Welcome back to the new school year. It's taken me a bit to get to
my web site, so for that I apologize. Summer seemed to come and go so quickly. It;s hard get back into the swing
of things. Nevertheless, we are off and running in Literature. The 6th grade is learning to roll with the punches
as the schedule and teachers are all new to them.
In 6th grade we are starting off with a unit about young people who have to make choices that will
effect their lives as they grow up. Some of the works we will be studying are Call It Courage, Hatchet, Island of the
Blue Dolphins and The Witch of Blackbird Pond.
In 7th grade we are begining our year with Fables and Tales.
Next we will be reading American Folk Lore. You may have heard of some of these folks...Paul Bunyan, Pecos Bill and
Davy Crockett.
The 8th grade is starting their final year with Legends. We are currently studying Robin Hood.
We will also do an extensive unit on King Arthur and Arthurian Legend.
I know that this year will be one of amazing growth for our kids and I am so blessed to be a part of it
all.
In 6th grade religion we are begining this year with the study of the liturgical year.
